Abstract:

Hypertension is one of the leading and preventable risk factors for causing stroke and coronary artery disease, which contribute to all global mortality and renal, heart failure, as well as peripheral vascular disease. Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors are today's major drugs to maintain blood pressure. Patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESRD) who have hypertension can effectively manage it with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors. Benazepril, which belongs to ACE inhibitor, is used for the treatment of refractory hypertension. It can reduce the morbidity or mortality in congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, diabetes mellitus, chronic renal insufficiency, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. It acts by relaxing blood vessels and reducing the heart's workload. Normally taken once daily, benazepril can be taken with or without food. Benazepril's typical adverse effects include headache, coughing, and dizziness. Pharmaceuticals' discovery, development, and production depend heavily on developing and validating analytical procedures. This review emphasizes the types of validated analytical methods available to determine the ACE Inhibitor benazepril. Simple, precise, and accurate UV spectroscopic methods, HPLC methods, UPLC, and HPTLC have been developed and validated to estimate Benazepril Hydrochloride. The merits and drawbacks of all the existing studies were discussed. As Benazepril is an important class of life-saving drug, more suitable methods of estimation are to be developed. This study thereby helps the researchers understand the drawbacks of the existing methods and gives insight into the importance of developing more rapid and accurate analytical methods for estimation.
