Ameliorative Efficacy of Honey On Liver Biochemical Parameters of Albino Rat After Exposure to Rice Straw Smoke Exposure

Abstract:

Honey has many health benefits, including treating infections, fighting metabolic syndrome, preventing and hardening of the arteries, and promoting gut health. Honey can be an alternative to antibiotics. The main components of atmospheric pollutants (smog) are Particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5), and fine particles with an aerodynamic diameter smaller than 2.5μm. As atmosphereic pollutants are of small diameter, large specific surface area, complex chemical composition, and their capability to easily enrich toxic and harmful substances, PM2.5 can reach the respiratory fine bronchi and alveolar cavity after entering the respiratory tract and cause harm to human at a substantially greater extent than particulate  PM2.5 which was released from burning straw that  mainly composed of organic matter (74.1%); 30% of the organic matter were polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; 10% wereL-glucose and mannose-oligosaccharides. The present study explores the protective effect of honey supplementation to combat liver damage caused by rice straw burning exposure.
