A Review of Anti-Uterine Leiomyomas of Siddha Herbo Mineral Formulation – Vedi Annabedhi Chendhooram

Uterine leiomyomas, are known as uterine fibroids (UF), develops in the uterus, making it a common gynecological problem among women worldwide. UF is a solid growth of muscle and connective tissues in the uterine wall. While they are noncancerous, the heavy menstrual bleeding, sudden severe abdominal pain, and infertility can draw attention to the fibroids. In modern medicine, surgery is often considered as a primary solution. However, the siddha system of medicine holds a significant place in treating uterine leiomyomas. The information is collected from various siddha literature and scientific databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, Research Gate, and Science Direct. The alternative system of medicine, especially siddha medicine, is a potential medical system in southern India, particularly Tamil Nadu. It is due to its ability to address diseased conditions, reduce signs and symptoms, be affordable, and have minimal adverse effects. Siddha preparations inspire many individuals, and it is an alternative treatment for surgery. This review focuses on alternative medicinal use and pharmacological values of siddha herbomineral formulation of Vedi Annabedhi Chendhooram. It also seeks to discover the research gaps and forthcoming chances for investigation on this formulation.
