Abstract

Sepsis is a medical emergency that describes the body’s systemic immunological response to an infectious process that
can lead to end-stage organ dysfunction and death. Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host
response to infection. Sepsis has very high morbidity and mortality, leading to a major healthcare burden worldwide. Though there
is far advancement in the therapeutic options, the mortality rate remains high due to the delay in the diagnosis because of the lack
of availability of reliable diagnostic methods. This study aimed to observe the utility of Urine Albumin-Creatinine ratio with SAPS
II score among patients with sepsis. It is a Hospital based prospective analytical study conducted to study the utility of the
correlation of Urine Albumin-Creatinine ratio with SAPS II score in patients with sepsis period was July 2021 to November 2022
at General Medicine Department in Tertiary Care Hospital. Institutional Ethics Committee approved the study. It was observed
that most patients were male 34 (56.67%) and female 26 (43.33%). It was observed that most patients were in the age group 41-
50 years 14 (23.33%) followed by 51-60 years 12 (20%); the mean age of the patients was 45.1 ± 17.15 years. This study concludes
that the Urine Albumin-Creatinine ratio with SAPS II score is useful in sepsis diagnosis. The urinary ACR estimation is an easy,
cheap, and non-invasive tool and may be used to identify high-risk sepsis cases in resource settings.
