A Retrospective Analysis of Covid-19 Patients in Relationship Between Sex, Age, and Comorbidities

Abstract

The novel coronavirus is a severe infectious problem caused by SARS-coV-2. It was first started in Wuhan community belonging to China and spread as a pandemic. Coronavirus mainly spreads through contact with respiratory droplets. Symptoms include fever, shortness of breath, body pains, cough, and chest pain. The main objectives of this study are to evaluate the comorbidities and severity in patients with covid-19, to compare the mortality between males and females, and to determine the association between sex and age and significant clinical symptoms during the study period. The methodology includes reviewing the case sheets in the medical record room and preparing the structural data form relevant to the aim and objectives of the study. A total of 96 cases were identified and resolved. Out of those age groups, 48-58 are majorly affected by covid-19, especially males. Hypertension triggers the most i.e.,23%. Patients with dry cough have more impact on covid-19 than other clinical manifestations. Our study concludes that individuals between 48-58 years are at high risk of developing coronavirus. Hypertension triggers a significant impact on SARS-coV-2 compared to other comorbidities.
