In the current study an attempt was made to standardize various parameters to increase the production of bioethanol from fruit pulp and peel waste. Citrus limetta pulp, Citrus maxima pulp and peel were used. Hot water pretreatment was found to be best suitable than that of dilute acid pretreatment. pH 3 was found to be more effective for fermentation reactions. Two different enzymes pectinase and α-amylase was used in combination with three different organisms, namely Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Kluyveromyces marixianus and Zymomonas mobilis at room temperature and 50°C. In Citrus limetta pulp and Citrus maxima pulp and peel the highest ethanol yield (24.61%) was obtained at pH 3 using Pectinase enzyme and Kluyveromyces marixianus maintained at 500C.
