Abstract

In the present study, invitro antioxidant potential and free radical scavenging activities of aqueous and ethanolic root extract of Uraria lagopoides were evaluated by 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging assay, Hydroxyl radical scavenging activity,  Nitric oxide scavenging activity, Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP). In all the testing, a significant correlation existed between concentrations of the extract and percentage inhibition of free radicals, metal chelating and reducing power. These results indicated that ethanolic extract of Uraria lagopoides could be effective against free radical mediated diseases.
