<title><b>One Year Longitudinal Case Study – Post Bilateral Total Knee Arthroplasty - Falls Prevention with Physiotherapy</b></title>
<abstract>Osteoarthrosis of knee joint, most common indication for total knee arthroplasty. Being a major weight bearing joint and pathomechanical consequences these subjects undergo bilateral knee Arthroplasty. Obesity reduced physical activity, degenerative changes with ageing, sedentary life style were most common risk factors leading to knee arthroplasty. Post TKR complications include Falls, Lowback ache reduction in Quality of Life. As paucity of long term follow up study especially post Bilateral knee Arthroplasty, this research findings for one-year duration with Non – pharmacological intervention using specific physiotherapy means remain innovative with their results with scope of further research on improving the subjects quality of life, preventive ways in minimizing complications such as Falls, greater living standard with lesser dependency. Having a fall among geriatric subject are common, causing a huge impact on their QOL (Quality of Life) and economy. Post bilateral TKA (Total knee arthroplasty), where if falls happens, can give rise to larger damage to the subjects mobility and outcome of post TKA procedure. Female with diabetes, obesity, demineralization, longer duration of having OA knees can further predispose for falls with a decreased proprioception of lower extremity joints. Hence, post bilateral TKA should not only use protocol-based rehab, but should involve falls prevention strategies to minimise complications as well to benefit the subjects QOL. Individual problem based exercises on being used along with clinical guidelines along with clinical guidelines for the physiotherapy post bilateral TKA, were the recommendations of this research findings.</abstract>
