<title><b>Evaluation Of Combination Effects Of Some Selected Plants On Diabetes Mellitus </b></title>
<abstract>Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a syndrome characterized by chronic hyperglycemia and disturbances of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism associated with absolute or relative deficiencies in insulin secretion and/or insulin action. Despite considerable progress in the treatment of diabetes by oral hypoglycemic agents, search for newer drugs continues, because the existing synthetic drugs have several limitations. In recent times, there has been a renewed interest in the plant remedies. The aim and objective of the study is evaluation of anti diabetic activity of individual plant extracts and combination of polyherbal extraction. Methanolic extraction of  lessThan i greaterThan Salacia oblonga (MESO) lessThan /i greaterThan ,  lessThan i greaterThan Salacia roxburghii (MESR), Lagerstroemia parviflora (MELP),  lessThan /i greaterThan polyherbal methanolic extraction (PHME) studied for anti-diabetic activity in alloxan induced hyperglycaemic rats at a dose of 400mh/kg b.w. The obtained results of phytochemical investigation reveals the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids, triterpinoids, carbohydrates and glycosides, the methanolic extracts showed significant reduction of blood glucose levels in alloxon induced rats. The results showed that the extracts displayed significant activities when treated in combination, hence poly herbal extraction were suggested having anti diabetic properties.</abstract>
