<title>ANTIMICROBIAL POTENTIAL OF LEAF EXTRACTS OF TEN MANGROVE SPECIES FROM INDIAN SUNDARBAN </title>
<abstract>Mangroves have wide applications in folk medicine since ages due to the presence of several bioactive compounds. This study aims to explore the antimicrobial activity of ten mangroves commonly found in Indian Sundarban region namely  lessThan i greaterThan Avicennia alba, lessThan /i greaterThan   lessThan i greaterThan Avicennia marina, lessThan /i greaterThan   lessThan i greaterThan Avicennia officinalis, Excoecaria agallocha, lessThan /i greaterThan   lessThan i greaterThan Sonneratia caseolaris, Sonneratia apetela lessThan /i greaterThan , lessThan i greaterThan Aegiceres corniculatum, Acanthus ilicifolius, Nypa fruticans and Ceriops decandra lessThan /i greaterThan . Different leaf extracts were prepared and used for disc assay against  lessThan i greaterThan Agrobacterium tumefaciens lessThan /i greaterThan ,  lessThan i greaterThan Escherichia coli lessThan /i greaterThan ,  lessThan i greaterThan Streptococcus mutans, Staphylococcus aureus lessThan /i greaterThan ,  lessThan i greaterThan Aspergillus flavus  lessThan /i greaterThan and  lessThan i greaterThan Tricophyton rubrum lessThan /i greaterThan  with different concentrations.  lessThan i greaterThan Avicennia lessThan /i greaterThan  lessThan i greaterThan  marina, Avicennia alba, Acanthus ilicifolius, Ceriops decandra lessThan /i greaterThan  and  lessThan i greaterThan Excoecaria lessThan /i greaterThan  lessThan i greaterThan  agallocha lessThan /i greaterThan  showed better antimicrobial potential than the others. Additionally,  lessThan i greaterThan Acanthus lessThan /i greaterThan  lessThan i greaterThan  ilicifolius lessThan /i greaterThan  and  lessThan i greaterThan Avicennia lessThan /i greaterThan  lessThan i greaterThan  marina lessThan /i greaterThan  extracts were most active in the lowest concentration. The highest activity was shown by acetone extract of  lessThan i greaterThan Avicennia alba lessThan /i greaterThan  against  lessThan i greaterThan Staphylococcus aureus  lessThan /i greaterThan where diameter of the zone of inhibition was 15.6 mm followed by ethyl acetate extract of  lessThan i greaterThan Avicennia alba lessThan /i greaterThan  with 11.9 mm zone of inhibition.</abstract>
