<title>ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF IN VITRO AND IN VIVO PLANT EXTRACTS OF CEROPEGIA PUSILLA. WIGHT AND ARN AN ENDEMIC MEDICINAL PLANT </title>
<abstract>The present study aimed at to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of methanol extracts of the endemic medicinal plant,  lessThan i greaterThan Ceropegia pusilla  lessThan /i greaterThan against five different bacterial strains namely,  lessThan i greaterThan Shigella sonnei  lessThan /i greaterThan MTCC 2957,  lessThan i greaterThan Klebsiella pneumoniae  lessThan /i greaterThan MTCC 109,  lessThan i greaterThan Escherichia coli  lessThan /i greaterThan MTCC 118,  lessThan i greaterThan Staphylococcus aureus  lessThan /i greaterThan ATCC 43300 and  lessThan i greaterThan Bacillus lessThan /i greaterThan  sp., and four different fungal strains namely,  lessThan i greaterThan Aspergillus lessThan /i greaterThan  sp.,  lessThan i greaterThan Mucor lessThan /i greaterThan  sp.,  lessThan i greaterThan Penicillium lessThan /i greaterThan  sp., and  lessThan i greaterThan Candida albicans lessThan /i greaterThan  ATCC 60192, by agar well diffusion method. The methanol extract from the  lessThan i greaterThan in vitro lessThan /i greaterThan  plant showed higher inhibitory effect towards the bacterium,  lessThan i greaterThan Klebsiella lessThan /i greaterThan  sp., moderate inhibitory effect against the fungal strains  lessThan i greaterThan Penicillium lessThan /i greaterThan  sp., and  lessThan i greaterThan Candida albicans lessThan /i greaterThan . There is no inhibitory effect towards the other bacterial and fungal strains whereas the extract from  lessThan i greaterThan in vivo lessThan /i greaterThan  plant showed a higher inhibitory effect towards the bacterium  lessThan i greaterThan Klebsiella lessThan /i greaterThan  sp., and fungal strains  lessThan i greaterThan Mucor lessThan /i greaterThan  sp.,  lessThan i greaterThan Penicillium lessThan /i greaterThan  sp., and  lessThan i greaterThan Candida albicans lessThan /i greaterThan ., moderate inhibitory effect against  lessThan i greaterThan Staphylococcus lessThan /i greaterThan  sp., and no inhibitory effect against the other bacterial and fungal strains. On the basis of this experimental result, it can be concluded that methanol extract of  lessThan i greaterThan in vitro lessThan /i greaterThan  and  lessThan i greaterThan in vivo lessThan /i greaterThan  plants of  lessThan i greaterThan Ceropegia pusilla lessThan /i greaterThan  could be considered for further isolation and evaluation as therapeutic antimicrobial.</abstract>
