<title>SYNTHESIS, SPECTRAL CHARACTERIZATION AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES OF Cr(III), Co(II), Ni(II) AND Cd(II) COMPLEXES WITH 4-AMINOANTIPYRINE AND THIOCYANATE ION AS LIGANDS </title>
The complexes of Cr(III), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cd(II) were synthesized with the ligands 4-aminoantipyrine (4-AAP) and thiocynate ion. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, electrical conductivity measurement, IR, lessThan sup greaterThan 1 lessThan /sup greaterThan H-NMR and lessThan sup greaterThan 13 lessThan /sup greaterThan C-NMR spectra. The antimicrobial, antifungal activities of 4-aminoantipyrine and its complexes were tested against the microorganisms such as lessThan i greaterThan staphylococcus aurous, E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa lessThan /i greaterThan and lessThan i greaterThan Candida albicance lessThan /i greaterThan by disc diffusion method. The antimicrobial studies of the ligand 4-aminoantipyrine and its metal complexes indicate that the metal complexes showed greater antimicrobial activity than the free ligand.
